AMMAN — The Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Jordan on Thursday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at supporting and developing policies and conditions for social entrepreneurship in Jordan as part of the “Heart of Amman” programme.
“Heart of Amman” was launched in July 2019 with funding from the Government of Japan and supports projects that focus on developing downtown Amman.
Under the agreement, the two sides will cooperate to create a common understanding of social entrepreneurship, as well as to collaborate in the decision-making mechanism in accordance with the best global standards and UNDP experiences in this field.
The memo stipulated supporting the ministry to draw a roadmap towards creating a regulatory framework for social entrepreneurship, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The support also covers the creation of a national online platform for self-employment and skills development through offering training, in addition to the establishment of the Kingdom’s first social entrepreneurship incubator.
