AMMAN — Jordan’s decision to open a consulate in the Moroccan Sahara city of Laayoune has “strong indications” and will play a role in enhancing relations and create opportunities to organise investments in the region, Moroccan Ambassador to Jordan Sidi Mohamed Nasseri said on Sunday.

Nasseri said that there are already Jordanians working in the Sahara region, and that the opening of the consulate in the coming weeks will pave the way for further development in humanitarian and commercial relations, which is "a core issue for the two brotherly nations, Jordan and Morocco”, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The diplomat also said that coordination between His Majesty King Abdullah and King Mohammed VI “has never and will never stop”, expressing hope for further developments in the already good relations between the two kingdoms. He also voiced his country’s support to the Palestinian cause, stressing that the right of the Palestinian people “cannot be compromised”.
