AMMAN — Water subscribers in Amman can now use their smartphones to inquire about the value of their bills and the water distribution programme under a new application launched Tuesday.
The “Miyahuna” application for Android smartphones also provides subscribers with contact information for all of the Jordan Water Company’s offices across the capital and emergency numbers, among other services.
The application lists the hotline number for water and wastewater complaints and the locations of all of its offices, in addition to site maps, phone numbers and working hours.
It also allows subscribers to inquire about their turn in the water distribution programme, either by logging in their subscription number or by detecting the location of their smartphones.
Under the water distribution programme, households receive water once a week on a rotating basis. Scarce water resources compelled the Kingdom to initiate the programme in the early 1980s to ensure a sustainable water supply to subscribers.
In a statement e-mailed to The Jordan Times, Miyahuna said the new application is aimed at improving water services in Amman.
The new application received positive feedback from users.
In a review of the app, Ghassan Yasin wrote that it is “very useful”, while Danial Warq said it was a “great idea”.
The company supplies 600,000 subscribers in Amman with water and wastewater services, and 80 per cent of them are linked to the sewage network.
