Ministry announces start of second semester

AMMAN — The Ministry of Education said that around 2 million students will head to primary and secondary schools next week.

Announcing that the 2018/2019 academic year’s second semester will begin on Sunday, the ministry said that schools were ready to receive students, adding that teacher and supervisor numbers are adequate at all educational directorates across the Kingdom, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

During the summer holiday, the ministry said it built 40 schools and rented another 14, and added 588 classrooms while renovating 550.

The ministry also said there are 216 two-shift schools in the Kingdom, and 1.4 million students receive their education at 4,000 public schools in Jordan, Petra reported.

There are 200,000 students currently registered for first grade this academic year. According to the ministry 50,000 students also transferred from private to public schools this year.
