AMMAN — A man in his 20s died on Friday after he was shot during festive firing at a wedding party in Jerash, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The man was taken to Jerash Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, said Jerash Governor Qassim Mheidat.
The suspected shooter and his brother were arrested and an investigation is under way, the governor said.
Despite a reduction in instances of festive firing in Jerash, 48km north of Amman, following a police crackdown, some have persisted in firing guns at celebratory events like weddings.
Meanwhile, the Criminal Investigation Department on Friday said that a man who was reported missing four months ago had been murdered.
The victim, who was born in 1990, had been reported missing by a family member on April 27, the Public Security Department media office said.
Following an investigation, PSD personnel arrested the victim’s employer, who confessed to stabbing the victim after an argument and burying him in his house’s backyard.
The body was retrieved from the suspect’s house, in the presence of a prosecutor and a forensic doctor, and taken to a hospital, the PSD said in a statement.
