AMMAN — The Lower House on Monday decided to maintain its previous decision regarding amendments to the Civil Status Law.
The Senate had referred the bill to deputies after scrapping a phrase in Item 32 of the draft law that allowed first-degree cousins to benefit from a final judicial decision to change the family name on civil status data registers, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Senators will consider the decision from the Lower House. In the event that the Senate refuses the decision, there will be a joint session to settle the dispute.
