AMMAN — The Ministry of Labour on Monday opened an inspection office at the central market for fruits and vegetables. Labour Minister and Minister of State for Investment Affairs Maen Qatamin said that the office is aimed at providing 500 jobs for Jordanians in the field of handling fruits and vegetables, as well as organising the flow of foreign workers, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Stressing that jobs of handling fruits and vegetables inside the central market are prohibited for non-Jordanian workers, the ministry’s spokesperson Mohammed Zyoud said that the office is designated to following up on illegal foreign workers inside the central market in coordination with the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM).
He also highlighted that the ministry and GAM agreed on conducting inspection tours as of Tuesday during the market working hours, which start at 4am, to organise the work of foreign workers entitled to work in the market.
