AMMAN — Over the past 27 days, 12,000 kilogrammes of medical waste was generated, the Health Ministry said on Sunday. Official data shows that 300 to 600 kilogrammes of medical equipment are being used daily, the ministry added, as reported by the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
All of these medical items, since the Kingdom registered the first coronavirus case on March 2, are used only once and are disposed of according to an “accurate scientific mechanism” that ends with incineration.
Director of Prince Hamzah Hospital Abdulrazzaq Khashman said that medical waste resulting from personnel dealing with coronavirus cases is transported by a specialised company to an area designated for incinerating at temperatures ranging between 800 and 1,000 degrees Celsius.
