King, Egyptian president in Cairo discuss ties, regional developments

AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, in Cairo on Thursday, discussed the deep-rooted ties between Jordan and Egypt, stressing the importance of continuing to advance them.

The meeting, held ahead of the trilateral Jordanian-Egyptian-Palestinian summit, covered means of expanding cooperation with Egypt in various fields to advance shared interests, according to a Royal Court statement.

Discussions also addressed efforts to reach political solutions to regional crises, with the two leaders emphasising the need to maintain coordination on issues of mutual concern, foremost of which is the Palestinian cause.

Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh and Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly attended part of the meeting.
