King directs follow-up on survivors of Irbid fire that killed six children

AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah on Friday directed Royal Hashemite Court Chief Yousef Issawi to check on the condition of the victims of a fire that erupted in a house in Irbid and claimed the lives of six children from the same family.
His Majesty told Issawi to visit the bereaved family to check on their needs and work on providing the best health services to the injured members, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The Royal Court chief conveyed King Abdullah’s condolences to the parents of the deceased, wishing the injured a speedy recovery.
The Civil Defence Department’s (CDD) media centre said that the fire erupted in a five-storey building apartment in the Zabdat Farkouh area, and resulted in the death of six children and the injury of six other people, including four from the same family, who suffered breathing difficulties, according to Petra.
West Irbid CDD fire personnel extinguished the fire, while paramedics administered first aid to the injured before transferring them, along with the bodies of the ddeceased, to the Princess Basma Educational Hospital.
Three of the injured were reported to be in critical condition, while the others were listed in a fair state.
The CDD said that a special committee has been formed to investigate the cause of the fire.
Health Minister Ghazi Zaben visited the injured at hospital and checked on their condition, calling on the hospital’s director, Muhammad Bani Yassin, to provide them with all the medical services needed, Petra reported.
