AMMAN — The King Hussein Cancer Centre (KHCC) on Wednesday will launch an awareness campaign aimed at reminding people of the importance of being aware of the types of cancer that may affect children, their risks and prevention and early detection methods.

Under the theme "Our healing is in their hands”, the campaign, which coincides with International Childhood Cancer Day, seeks to raise global awareness of dangers of cancer and support children and their families during their treatment journey, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

KHCC Director General Asem Mansour said that the centre provides services for around 450 childhood cancer patients every year, noting that the most common types of cancer among children are leukemia, brain tumours and lymphatic diseases.

The cure rate for children sits at approximately 80 per cent, which is equivalent to cure rates in advanced countries, he said The campaign aims to describe the most important challenges of childhood cancer, and calls on the community to stand with children diagnosed with cancer and help them achieve a healthy future.
