Jordan’s trade balance deficit with EU up by 13.8% — DoS

AMMAN — Jordan's trade balance deficit with countries of the European Union (EU) went up by 13.8 per cent during the first eight months of 2021, to reach nearly JD1.716 billion, compared with JD1.507 million during the same period of 2020, according to the Department of Statistics' (DoS) figures.
The volume of national exports to EU countries during the January-August period of 2021 totalled JD131 million, marking a 33 per cent increase, in comparison with JD98.5 million during the same period of 2020.
The department's report revealed that imports from EU countries also increased by 15 per cent, reaching JD1.847 billion, compared with JD1.606 million during the same period of comparison.
Data showed that Holland was the top importer of Jordanian products, while Germany was the EU’s largest exporter to the Kingdom during the first eight months of the year, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported on Thursday.
