Jordan’s renewable energy projects shine during Abu Dhabi meet

AMMAN — Jordan's permanent representative to the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and Jordanian Ambassador to Abu Dhabi Jumaa Abadi on Saturday affirmed that the Kingdom has succeeded in increasing its dependence on renewable energies, which enabled the sector to attract investments exceeding $5 billion.

During the opening of the 10th session of the IRENA General Assembly in Abu Dhabi, Abadi said that, since 2014, Jordan has developed solar and wind energy projects supplying clean energy to the national grid with a total capacity of approximately 1,500 megawatts, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

He stated that Jordan has become first in the region and third globally in legislative environment and investment attraction in the renewable energy sector, Petra reported.
