AMMAN — The meetings of the Jordanian-Egyptian joint technical committee for maritime transport commenced on Tuesday in Aqaba, to execute decisions taken at the meetings of the joint Jordanian-Egyptian higher committee, held between August 29 and 31 in Cairo.
The two-day Aqaba meetings aim at activating a memorandum of understanding on accrediting private certificates of sailors and another memo on vessel inspection, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The meetings also seek to exchange expertise on international agreements related to curbing maritime pollution, as well as coordinating efforts in rescue fields, addressing maritime accidents and holding joint drills.
