AMMAN — A group of Jordanian doctors residing in Germany founded an association to organise volunteer work in the Kingdom.
Tareq Abu Zamzam, the association’s deputy president, told the Jordan News Agency, Petra, in an online interview, that the establishing the association is the idea of Jordanian doctors residing in Germany.
Abu Zamzam, who graduated from the medicine college at the Jordan University of Science and Technology, said that the idea arose from the increasing numbers of Jordanian doctors and their families in Germany. The doctors felt that they needed an entity to represent them.
As for establishing the association, he said that several doctors created a group on a social media platform that only hosted Jordanian doctors in Germany.
The aim of the group was to exchange technical expertise and answer questions of doctors, Abu Zamzam said. A few weeks later, the group members managed to reach 375 Jordanian doctors, he added.
After eight months, the group created a committee of 22 members who were tasked with drafting a law for the association and sending it to the concerned authorities in Germany, he added.
The deputy president said that the association on Friday received the official approval from German authorities to establish “The Association of Jordanian Doctors in Germany”, and was registered.
On the financing resources, he said that the association is independent and finances itself through the subscriptions of members and does not receive any support.
He also noted that the association seeks to promote voluntary work in Jordan and other Arab countries.
Abu Zamzam added that the association also plans to encourage its members to have a humanitarian and voluntary role.
