AMMAN — Deputising for Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Bisher Al Khasawneh, State Minister for Media Affairs Sakher Dudin on Sunday attended the launch of the fourth edition of the Jordanian-Arab Media Festival, titled “The Jerusalem Session”.
During the opening session, Dudin, the government’s spokesperson, said that the title of the festival is in line with the Kingdom's efforts to mobilise support for the Palestinian cause, Jerusalem and support the Palestinians in meeting their legitimate rights.
His Majesty King Abdullah's efforts are part of the Hashemite Custodianship over Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, Dudun said.
He highlighted the Kingdom's "solid" stances that emphasise the necessity of preserving the holy city's legal and historical status quo, as well as protecting its Arab, Islamic and Christian identity.
Dudin also called for unifying all Arab media efforts towards supporting the Palestinian cause to “speak in one voice in all international and regional forums”, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
Palestinian Media Minister Ahmed Assaf said that selecting the name of Jerusalem for the festival shows the status of the holy city and the Palestinian cause, the foremost central issue, for Arab nations, notably Jordan.
