Jordan, Yemen discuss bolstering cooperation in education field

AMMAN — In the presence of HRH Princess Dana Firas, President of the Petra National Trust (PNT), Education Minister Wajih Oweis on Monday met with Yemeni Minister of Education Tariq Akbari who is visiting Jordan to participate in the launching ceremony of “Heritage for Yemen’s Generations” project organised by PNT, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

During the meeting, the princess said that the project includes “training trainers” programme, in cooperation with the Yemeni Ministry of Education, where Yemeni teachers and academic supervisors would be trained to implement the extracurricular cultural and heritage programme developed by the Trust.

The programme targets children of the age 7 to 12 in Yemen, aiming to raise awareness about the importance of preserving their cultural sites through interactive educational methods.

The two ministers discussed bolstering bilateral relations, especially in education. 

Oweis referred to the Jordanian educational experience, highlighting the use of technology in education.

He stressed that education is a major concern of the Hashemite leadership which believes in the role of education in creating competent cadres that would be a pillar to the building and development process.

The Yemeni minister lauded the Jordanian educational experience, stressing keenness to benefit from such expertise in developing education in Yemen.

Akbari referred to the education in Yemen and the challenges it is facing, stressing Yemeni people’s determination to overcome obstacles and turn them into opportunities for development.
