Jordan, WB review plans to enhance public transport

AMMAN — Minister of Transport Wajeeh Azaizeh on Sunday met with World Bank's Regional Director of the Mashreq Department Saroj Jha to discuss means to enhance public transport in Jordan, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
During a meeting, Azaizeh said that the ministry is working on updating transport-related strategies, stressing that, in cooperation with the private sector, the strategy lies at the top of the ministry's priorities.
The two focused on the need for the World Bank’s support to develop and build the competencies of workers in the field of transport as well as employees and specialists at the ministry, in cooperation with the local community, unions and universities.
Jha affirmed the Bank's support for the Kingdom by providing a grant aiming to update the sector’s strategies to make Jordan a regional hub for trade and transit trade through the adoption of a multimodal network by land, sea and air.
