AMMAN – The Jordan Times on Wednesday launched a revamped website that will allow a wider range of content, more frequent updates and better interaction with readers through social media.

The new online version of the paper (www.jordantimes.com) embraces a variety of up-to-date technologies, features and standards, said Chief Editor Samir Barhoum.

He noted that “the launch of the new website comes just few months before the 40th anniversary of The Jordan Times, the only English newspaper in the Kingdom”.

The Jordan Times will celebrate its 40th anniversary on October 26.

“The update fits our profile as a highly professional newspaper with a progressive vision. In fact, the makeover to the online version crowns a series of improvements to the form and essence of The Jordan Times over the past years,” Barhoum added.

The Jordan Times expects to see substantial increases in the number of page views in the coming few months, the editor said.

On social media networks, The Jordan Times has over 174,000 followers on Facebook and around 110,000 on Twitter.

From interface perspective, the revamped website fits all screen sizes and resolutions catering to the wide range of device sizes used by The Jordan Times' audience.

The new design is flexible and easily updatable, through a simple method of changing the layout of the homepage that can be constantly and easily done by website administrators.`

Ensuring smooth access to content, the user-friendly interface and distribution of articles under different categories allow readers to spot their materials of interest with much convenience.

Archived materials are also within the readers’ reach with equal easiness. Readers can browse a PDF version (flipper) that is also compatible with mobile devices.

The mobile-friendly website will enable the newspaper to deliver news and information to readers in the format and at the time of choice.

The website “Search” feature has been enhanced to provide better quality and relevance of results using Apache Solar technology.

The new-look website was developed by AccuSolutions, which enjoys regional and international reputation for high quality and reliability.

“The contentment and satisfaction of The Jordan Times’ valuable website administration team greatly matters to us,” said AccuSolutions’ Development Manager Nafe Abboushi, who added that the latest technology trends and features are used in the system backend, such as smart image processing, YouTube videos integration and other article management tools.

Highest security standards and measures have been applied to guarantee minimum risk, Abboushi added.
