Jordan takes part in climate change and human rights conference in Doha

AMMAN — Jordan concluded its participation in the International Conference on Climate Change and Human Rights on Saturday in Doha, Qatar. The conference was organised by the Qatari National Human Rights Committee, in partnership with the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, the UN Development Programme (UNDP), the Arab League and the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions (GANHRI).
Representing Jordan at the conference, Facilitator of the National Centre for Human Rights Reem Abu Dalbouh said that the conference aims to bolster global action through developing policies and legislation and integrating human rights into climate issues. Chair of the UN Subcommittee on Prevention of Torture, Suzanne Jabbour, said that the conference coincided with the Arab region’s suffering from a number of climate change-related issues.
Founder of the Turkey-based Mizan Human Rights Organisation, Yasser Farhan, called for controlling technology and its objectives, as its primary goal in safeguarding lives and achieving well-being, not violating the right to life. Chair of India's National Human Rights Commission, Arun Kumar Mishra, stressed the importance of finding solutions to climate change and human rights issues.
