AMMAN — Under Royal directives, two military cargo planes flew to Lebanon on Sunday, carrying relief aid to the war-hit country.

The Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF) said the C-130 cargo planes carried food items and medical supplies to Lebanon as part of the ongoing aid campaign under which 14 military aircraft have been dispatched to Beirut.

JAF said that the relief assistance seeks to support some sectors in Lebanon to handle the "severe shortage" in medical supplies and other essentials.

The army said that the relief assistance to Lebanon has been dispatched in coordination with the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organisation.

JAF said one of the cargo planes will carry Jordanians back home from Lebanon.
