AMMAN — Jordan on Sunday took part in the emergency meeting of foreign ministers of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Saudi Arabia, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

During the meeting, held upon a request by Saudi Arabia, participants discussed taking "urgent" action in response to ballistic missiles that have been fired at Saudi Arabia by the Houthi militants in Yemen.

Secretary General of the Foreign Ministry Zeid Lawzi, who headed Jordan's delegation, stressed Jordan's condemnation of Houthis' assaults on Saudi Arabia.

He reiterated the Kingdom's support to Riyadh in face of any assault that targets its security and stability.

Lawzi stressed Jordan's stance that calls for finding a political solution for the Yemeni crisis on the basis of the international legitimacy and the relevant resolutions.

Participants unanimously adopted a resolution condemning the Houthi offensive and stressed the support of OIC members to Saudi measures to prevent the occurence of such assaults.

The resolution also stressed the member states' commitment to supporting the internationally recognised Yemeni government.

Lawzi also headed the Jordanian delegation, which took part in the meeting of the Contact Group on Yemen that was held on the sidelines of the emergency meeting.
