Jordan participates in Arab League's Economic and Social Council meeting

AMMAN — The Jordanian delegation on Monday participated in a ministerial meeting of the Arab League's Economic and Social Council, held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, in preparation for the 32nd Arab League summit.

Headed by the Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply and Minister of Labour Yousef Shamali, the delegation participated in the meeting to discuss economic and social topics of priority and enhance pan-Arab solidarity, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The meeting focused on the latest developments concerning the Greater Arab Free Trade Area (GAFTA), including Somalia's recent accession, and the Arab Customs Union. Additionally, the council issued instructions to promptly implement the rules of origin and amend its articles to align with the general provisions outlined in the comprehensive Arab rules of origin.

Moreover, an Arab tourism strategy and an Arab strategy for communications and information were approved during the meeting.
