AMMAN — Jordan, under the Hashemite leadership, has managed to overcome multiple challenges since it was established 100 years ago and in its 76 years of independence, Minister of State for Media Affairs Faisal Shboul said on Wednesday.
During an interview with Jordan Television on the occasion of the 76th Independence Day, Shboul, who is also government’s spokesperson, said that this year the celebrations have “a special character”, as this year’s Independence Day coincides with the Kingdom's entering its second centennial under the theme "moving towards a new future".
During the interview, he highlighted the Kingdom's efforts towards political reform, notably modernising the political system through legal and constitutional amendments, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
There are two parallel paths to political reform: Economic reform and administrative modernisation, he said, adding that the government will launch a package including the new investment bill.
He also highlighted that Independence Day celebrations came amid “complicated” regional conditions, including global crises that affected the prices of basic commodities and freight rates, which have impacted the Kingdom's indicators that have shown positive results following the recovery from the pandemic.
