AMMAN — The Kingdom, represented by the Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA), last week joined the International Council for Harmonisation of Technical Requirements for Pharmaceuticals for Human Use (ICH).
In a statement, carried by the Jordan News Agency, Petra, the JFDA said that Jordan is the first country in the region to join the ICH, which works worldwide on developing safe and high quality drugs, using the most efficient methods. Jordan’s membership in the ICH was the result of the JFDA’s achievements in applying best practices and scientific and technical legislation, according to the statement.
By joining the ICH, the JFDA can take part in international decision making regarding the technical requirements of medicines, the administration said, adding that membership can play a “vital” role in attracting investments and promoting Jordan’s drug industry, which reaches to 65 countries worldwide.
