Jordan elected president of convention on organic pollutants

AMMAN — Jordan has been elected president of the Conference of the Parties of the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants between 2017 and 2019, according to a statement issued by the Environment Ministry on Wednesday and carried by the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
The election came during the participation of a ministry delegation in meetings of of the parties to the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm conventions, which has recently been held in Geneva, Switzerland.
Mohammed Khashashneh, head of the hazardous waste management directorate at the ministry, will assume presidency of the conference’s next session.
