AMMAN — Jordan denounces the Israeli forces’ incursions into Al Aqsa Mosque/Al Haram Al Sharif and the following attacks on worshipers inside the holy site, a Foreign Ministry statement said on Wednesday.

The ministry demanded that Israel immediately withdraw its police and special forces from the site, the statement said.

The ministry’s spokesperson, Ambassador Sanan Al Majali, called the raid and attacks on worshipers at Al Aqsa Mosque/Al Haram Al Sharif “a blatant violation” and a “condemned and rejected act”.

He urged Israel, as the occupying force, to cease its violations of  international humanitarian law and to halt any measures aimed at changing the historical and legal status quo of Jerusalem and its sanctities.

The ministry spokesperson also warned of the danger of this escalation and held Israel responsible for the security of Al Aqsa Mosque/Al Haram Al Sharif and the safety of worshipers.

Majali emphasised that Israel should be accountable for the serious consequences of this escalation, which undermines efforts to achieve calm. The spokesperson stressed the need to prevent escalating violent acts that threaten security and peace.
