AMMAN — Jordan on Monday condemned the decisions of Serbia and Kosovo to relocate their embassies to Jerusalem, describing the decisions as “a clear violation” of international law.
Voicing the Kingdom's rejection, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Daifallah Fayez said that the two decisions are a “flagrant violation” of international law, notably United Nations Security Council Resolution 476, 478 and 2334, all of which affirm that East Jerusalem is an occupied territory where international law is applied, according to a Foreign Ministry statement.
Any decisions or measures aimed at changing the holy city's legal status or its demographic structure are illegal, the spokesperson added.
The “sole way” to achieve a fair and comprehensive peace is through the two-state solution that guarantees the establishment of a Palestinian state within the pre-1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, he said, lauding the EU's position against relocating the embassies to Jerusalem.
