AMMAN — The Foreign Ministry on Saturday condemned the Houthi militia's takeover of the US embassy compound in Sanaa, which the embassy used before it halted its operations in 2015.
The Houthis stole and damaged embassy possessions, as well as abused several Yemeni employees and their families who helped maintain the building, according to a ministry statement.
Ministry Spokesperson Haitham Abu Al Foul expressed the Kingdom's denouncement of these acts that represent a flagrant violation to diplomatic laws and norms and a clear violation to the immunity of a diplomatic mission building.
Abu Al Foul also highlighted the importance of the immediate and safe release of all hostages, leaving the embassy premises and returning all stolen items.
