AMMAN — Jordan denounced the recent attack on a United Nations vehicle in the southern Gaza Strip city of Rafah, which occurred on Monday and resulted in the death of one staff member and left another Jordanian staff member wounded, according to a Foreign Ministry statement.
This attack occurred in the midst of Israel's escalated military operations in Rafah.
Sufian Qudah, the ministry’s spokesperson, stressed the importance of ensuring the safety of United Nations personnel and relief workers who have a vital humanitarian role in providing assistance to the Palestinians, especially in the midst of the unprecedented humanitarian crisis in the Strip.
The statement held Israel accountable for the situation, emphasising its role as an occupying force.
Qudah stressed that the ministry was following up with the United Nations on the medical condition of the wounded Jordanian staff member, noting that efforts are under way to facilitate her safe departure from the war-torn Strip.
