AMMAN — Jordan on Wednesday condemned Israel's assassination of Hamas's political chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran.

Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Sufian Qudah reiterated Jordan's firm stance in rejecting violations of state sovereignty and international law, and in condemning political assassinations, violence, and terrorism regardless of their motives.

Qudah urged the international community to assume its responsibilities and take immediate measures to stop Israel's aggression on Gaza and its violations of international law and United Nations resolutions.
He stressed the need to protect the region's security and stability from the “catastrophic” consequences of Israel's ongoing aggression on Gaza and its escalating violations against the Palestinian people.

Qudah expressed Jordan's condolences to Palestine and its people, and to the family of Haniyeh and his companion.

Qudah also condemned Israel's aggression on Beirut on Tuesday, and its continuous violations of Lebanese sovereignty.

He warned that these crimes will only drag the region towards an expansion of the war and threaten regional and international security and peace.
