Jordan, China to sign deal for technical university — Mahmoud

AMMAN — Jordan and China will sign an agreement later this month to establish a Jordanian-Chinese technical university, Higher Education Minister Amin Mahmoud said Sunday.

Students at the projected university will have to spend two years in China during their studies, according to Mahmoud.

During a meeting with the Lower House Finance Committee, the minister noted that Jordan held year-long negotiations with the Chinese side to reach the agreement.

Meanwhile, Mahmoud noted that the number of students at public universities stood at 330,000, 56 per cent of whom are in faculties of humanities, where the majority of campus violence incidents take place.
