AMMAN — Canadian Ambassador Peter MacDougall, Commodore Ibrahim and Brigadier General Adnan on Wednesday celebrated Jordan and Canada’s collaboration in the field of maritime security in the Gulf of Aqaba, as the Jordanian Armed Forces-Arab Army received a zodiac boat from Canada, according to an embassy statement.
The maritime security cooperation is part of Canada’s strategy to support global efforts to combat Daesh.
“A secure Jordan is essential to stability in the Middle East and a key partner for Canada in efforts to enhance security in the region and in the struggle against Daesh,” said McDougall.
Last year, Canada signed a memorandum of understanding with Jordan to increase cooperation between the two countries on security and stabilisation in the region, the statement added.
