AMMAN — Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Zeina Touqan and Canadian Minister of International Cooperation Ahmed Hussen on Monday discussed the development cooperation programme between the two countries in several sectors including education, health, vocational training, social gender and refugee assistance.

During the meeting, Touqan highlighted the pivotal role of Canada's support in various aspects of development, such as supporting the implementation of economic and developmental reforms in line with the Vision for Economic Modernisation and its Executive Programme.

Talks during the meeting covered Jordan's development priorities for the coming period, stressing the importance of positioning Jordan as a top priority for Canadian development assistance.

The minister highlighted the need for international support for Jordan's response plan to the Syrian crisis, which helps the government's efforts towards providing essential services to refugees and host communities as well as the Kingdom's capacity to effectively implement its development projects.

The Canadian minister praised the depth of the bilateral relationship and expressed his country's commitment to continued coordination and cooperation with Jordan.

He also commended Jordan's pivotal role in hosting refugees and reaffirmed Canada's commitment to continue supporting Jordan's development priorities, particularly in the areas of education and vocational training.
