JLW issues statement to mark World Day against Child Labour

AMMAN — The Jordan Labour Watch (JLW) on Saturday called for developing a database that reflects the real condition of child labour in a way that can build strategies and policies to limit child labour.

JLW, in a statement on the occasion of the World Day against Child Labour, annually marked on June 12, called for reforming the social protection system in a way that prevents more families from being classified as poor and improves the educational and living conditions of households, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The watch, affiliated with Phenix Centre for Economic and Informatics Studies, also called for improving the educational process to limit school dropouts and intensifying monitoring on places with high levels of child labour through stiffening laws banning their work.
