JCC delegation, Omani economy minister discuss trade, investment relations in Berlin

AMMAN — A Jordan Chamber of Commerce delegation participating in the Arab-German Business Forum in Berlin met with Omani Minister of Economy Saeed Al Saqri to discuss strengthening trade and investment relations between Jordan and the Sultanate of Oman.

The Joint Coordination Committee said on Thursday that Al Saqri stressed the “long-term historical relations” between the two countries, stressing the importance of Sultan Haitham Bin Tariq’s recent visit to the Kingdom and his meeting with His Majesty King Abdullah as pivotal in strengthening bilateral relations, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

Saqri called for building on the outcomes of the Sultan’s visit to strengthen economic and trade relations, and to encourage the private sector to increase networking and mutual visits to benefit from mutual economic opportunities.

The minister said that there are broad areas in Amman and Jordan to increase trade exchange and joint investments and exchange experiences in various economic sectors, most notably in logistics, tourism, medicines, and food security.

The Omani delegation, which includes representatives of the public and private sectors, highlighted the investment climate in the Sultanate, its economic vision for 2040 and specific areas of trade and investment cooperation.

Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Amman Chamber of Commerce and Industry Khalil Haj Tawfiq stressed the importance of the cooperation agreement that was signed with the Amman Chamber of Commerce and Industry during the recent visit of the Omani delegation to Jordan.

He also stressed the need to take advantage of this agreement to explore new opportunities, enhance cooperation, and benefit from free trade agreements and the strategic geographical locations of both countries.

Hajj Tawfiq announced that the Jordanian Cooperation Centre intends to organise a visit for a Jordanian economic delegation to the Sultanate of Oman this summer, where the delegation will include representatives of sectors of interest to the Sultanate, to build partnerships and move towards inclusiveness and economic integration between the two countries.
