Issawi checks on agricultural projects in Karak, Balqa, Mafraq

AMMAN — Deputising for His Majesty King Abdullah, Royal Court Chief Yousef Issawi on Saturday checked on agricultural projects being implemented under Royal initiatives in the Karak, Balqa and Mafraq governorates.
Issawi, who is also head of the follow-up committee for the implementation of Royal initiatives, listened to briefings from supervisors of the projects on the nature of the plants and various production phases as well as the projects' contributions to creating job opportunities, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
In Karak, Issawi checked on a project to plant palm trees, which was established under Royal directives in 2006. The project was expanded three times in 2011, 2018 and 2020, with total trees in the project reaching some 6,331.
In Balqa, Issawi visited the palm trees project affiliated with Damia sports club in Deir Alla, which was implemented after Royal directives in 2008.
Issawi also toured a project for planting pomegranate trees in Sabha, Mafraq, which is held on a 500-dunum plot of land of some 30,000 pomegranate trees, where production since the beginning of the project until the end of 2020 totalled 525 tonnes.
