International Women’s Day celebrated in Salt

AMMAN — The Jordanian Hashemite Fund for Human Development (JOHUD) and the USAID Building Economic Sustainability through Tourism project (BEST) celebrated International Women’s Day in Salt on Thursday under the theme ‘Tourism Empowers Women’.
The event marked the start of a campaign across Jordan to raise awareness of how tourism can empower women. The campaign will run until 20th of March and entails a series of events for the communities of Salt, Ajloun, Jarash, Madaba, Al Kafrain and Aqaba, a JOHUD statement said.
These events will be held with participation of women from JOHUD’s community centres in Ajloun, Nuzha, Sahab, Ghor Mazra’a and Shobak.
The events will target high school, college and university students, and women within these communities, highlighting the economic opportunities that tourism offers to women.
