AMMAN — In the thrill of touring Jordan’s monumental landscapes that have served as the backdrop of many movies, Indian actor and producer Tovino Thomas wrapped up a three-day tour of the Kingdom on Tuesday.

Accompanied by his wife Lidiya and their two children, Tovino visited the rose-red city of Petra and the mars-like terrain of Wadi Rum, among other sites.

In conversation with The Jordan Times, Tovino, an avid travel enthusiast, said that Jordan has been on the bucket list of countries he wants to visit.

“Three days were not enough to explore Jordan, but I am very impressed with the majestic view of Petra and Wadi Rum. The serenity of Wadi Rum is worth experiencing,” Tovino said.

Tovino, who has starred in more than 40 Malayalam movies, among which is his recent block-buster “Minnal Murali” (Lightning Murali), a top trending non-English movie on Netflix.

In Amman, Fadi Taha Abu Areish, board member of the Jordan Tourism Board and vice chairperson of the travel agents association briefed Tovino on the Kingdom’s heritage and its tourism potential.

When asked about his next visit to Jordan, Tovino, who was accompanied by tourism expert Jose Sleeba over the course of the journey, said that he wants to experience Jordan in the winter in the future, schedule permitting.

Tovino also had much to say about Jordanian cuisine. “Trying mansaf was a great experience. Also, the wide variety of green salads, and the constant presence of olive oil is a pleasant experience. For the time being, I am leaving with the enduring taste of Jordan.”
