House speaker highlights importance of Syria’s stability during meeting with chargé d’affaires

AMMAN — Syria’s stability will be positively reflected on the entire region, Lower House Speaker Ahmad Safadi said on Thursday.
During his meeting with the Chargé d'Affaires of the Syrian embassy in Amman, Essam Nayal, Safadi said that Syria's return to the Arab League, as part of the Arab role to resolve the crisis based on Syria's unity, stability and territorial integrity, aligns with Jordan's firm position that a peaceful solution is the only way to resolve the crisis.
Safadi referred to the importance of the Amman Consultative Meeting, which followed a meeting in Jeddah, in launching a leading Arab role to resolve the crisis, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Safadi also stressed that the history of the Syrian people and the prominent stances of Syria as a nation are unforgettable, adding that, at the present time, the Syrian people “must remain united”.
He also highlighted the importance of resolving the refugee crisis, the drug trafficking issue and the threat of terrorism, which are going to be discussed as Syria returns to the Arab League.
For his part, Nayal expressed his appreciation for Jordan's efforts towards Syria, stressing the importance of enhancing and developing prospects for joint parliamentary coordination and exchanging visits from parliamentary delegations.
Nayal appreciated the Kingdom's “great role” in Syria’ return to the Arab League, and expressed his appreciation for Lower House’s support of Syria, stressing the importance of delegation of presidents of Arab parliaments to Syria three months ago.
Safadi and Nayal also discussed several issues of mutual interest, stressing the importance of strengthening parliamentary cooperation between the two countries.
