Hot air mass to raise temperatures over weekend — JMD

AMMAN — A hot air mass will push temperatures five degrees above the annual average on Friday, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said on Thursday.

The hot air mass is forecast to remain until Sunday, a JMD meteorologist said.

On Friday, weather will be hot in mountainous areas and very hot in the rest of the country, the forecaster said.

Temperatures will reach 37ºC during the day and 23ºC at night in Amman, while winds will be northwesterly moderate, the meteorologist told The Jordan Times, noting that temperatures in Aqaba, the Dead Sea and the Jordan Valley would reach an average of 43ºC.

The hot and dry weather will continue on Saturday, according to the JMD, which indicated that temperatures would also be 37ºC during the day in the capital, dropping to a low of 23ºC at night with northwesterly moderate winds.

The impact of the hot air mass will continue on Sunday, when the weather will be hot in mountainous areas and very hot in the rest of the country, according to the JMD.

Daytime temperatures are expected to be 37ºC in Amman, dropping to a low of 23ºC at night, and will reach 44ºC in Aqaba, the Jordan Valley and the Dead Sea, according to the department, which indicated that winds would remain northwesterly moderate on Sunday.

“Temperatures between Friday and Sunday will be four to five degrees above the annual average of 33ºC for this time of the year,” the meteorologist said.
