Highest voter turnout registered in Southern Badia, lowest in Amman's 3rd District

AMMAN — The Southern Badia District had registered the highest voter turnout rate by 2pm on Tuesday, while Amman's 3rd District had the lowest voter rate across the Kingdom, according to the Independent Election Commission (IEC).

IEC Spokesperson Jihad Momani added that females constituted 60 per cent of total voters, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

He did not provide specific figures on the voter turnout.

Meanwhile, over 847,000 voters had cast their ballots nationwide by 3pm, according to the IEC.

The number of eligible voters stands at 4,130,145, according to the IEC.

Meanwhile, a Syrian national was arrested after attempting to vote in Ramtha District, 90km north of Amman, Momani told reporters.

Meanwhile, a woman was referred to the prosecutor for capturing a photo of a ballot paper in Irbid's Doqara area, Petra quoted Momani as saying.

He added that the authorities were investigating if similar incidents had been reported elsewhere.

The spokesperson also noted that the election process was going smoothly at all polling centres, adding that the IEC was investigating some information on a woman who used her health insurance card instead of her civil identification card to cast her vote.
