AMMAN — Minister of Health Feras Al Hawari on Thursday launched the first response plan for public health emergencies at the border crossing points (Al Mudawara border crossing, King Hussein Bridge, and Aqaba Port’s passenger terminal), which was implemented in cooperation with the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) and other relevant authorities.

The plan is designed to provide protection for the Kingdom against several communicable diseases, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Hawari highlighted the Kingdom’s efforts to upgrade border crossings, emphasising the important role of border crossings in combating COVID-19 and other future pandemics.

IOM Chief of Mission Taima Kurt said that the response plan is aimed to prevent the entry and spread of communicable diseases to Jordan. Kurt noted that the effective implementation of the response plan could reduce the risk of communicable disease spread through the International Health Regulations (IHR).
