AMMAN — A harvest moon is expected to light up Jordan’s night sky on Monday. The full moon is scheduled to appear at 6:17pm from the northeast and will be visible until 6:26am, a total period of 12 hours and nine minutes, according to astronomer Emad Mjahed.
The full moon occurs when the moon is at its most illuminated phase and is directly opposite the sun.
The full moon witnessed in September is called the harvest moon because farmers can continue their harvest late into the night by the light of the moon.
