Graduation held for students of Dropout Programme in Zaatari camp

AMMAN — The Ministry of Education on Tuesday celebrated the graduation of the third batch of students enrolled in the Dropout Programme in Zaatari camp for 2021.
Deputising for the education minister, Director of Education Management at the Ministry of Education, Sami Mahasis, commended the students’ achievements despite the hard circumstances and expressed appreciation for Relief International (RI) for supporting the students’ education, during the virtual graduation ceremony.
RI's Country Director for Jordan Rozan Khalifeh cited a UNICEF and Education Ministry study in his statement that about 112,000 children are dropping out of school in Jordan, of which 50,000 are Syrian refugees, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, added.
UNICEF Representative Tanya Chapuisat congratulated the graduates and commended their perseverance to continue their educational activities via online learning amid the COVID-19 pandemic. She also highlighted Australia, Cyprus, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and the US’ support, led by the Ministry of Education, to allow UNICIF and RI to ensure each and every child an opportunity to continue their education.
The educational programme, which targets males aged 13-18 and females aged 13-20, included three, eight-month courses, Petra added.
