Gov’t tightens monitoring of quarantine violations

AMMAN — Interior Minister Samir Mubaideen on Tuesday chaired a meeting with administrative governors, chief of security agencies and other ministry officials on the procedures of self-quarantining and applying preventive measures as stipulated under the approved health protocol. Mubaideen instructed the officials to carry out random visits to self-quarantined people at their homes to ensure compliance.

Those who break the quarantine guidelines will face charges of violating defence orders, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The violators will be referred to a field hospital to complete the quarantine period at their own expense, and then will face prison terms of up to three years, a fine of JD3,000 or both penalties, in accordance with the provisions of Defence Order No. 8 of 2020, Petra added.

The minister also instructed governors to carry out extensive field inspection campaigns to shops, noting that the name and address of any violating shop will be published on media platforms.
