AMMAN — The Health Ministry and the Jordan Medical Association (JMA) have agreed to increase doctors’ basic pay to 30 and 70 per cent of their base salaries over two stages, one in April and another in July, respectively, JMA President Ali Obous said on Tuesday.

The decision was made during a meeting between Health Minister Ghazi Zaben and JMA President Ali Obous, in the presence of Jordan Dental Association President Ibrahim Tarawneh, Jordan Pharmacists Association President Zeid Kilani and Jordan Nurses and Midwives Association President Khaled Rababah.

A joint statement by the ministry and the JMA, carried by the Jordan News Agency, Petra, on Tuesday said that the meeting also discussed the issue of doctors who joined the first phase of residency programmes in 2019.
