Gov’t ‘will not tolerate’ tax evasion — PM

AMMAN — The government “will never tolerate tax evasion”, Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Omar Razzaz said on Wednesday, pledging to implement harsher punishments against violators.
During his visit to the Income and Sales Tax Department (ISTD), Razzaz highlighted the importance of “bringing a cultural change in terms of tax performance”, noting that it is a “joint responsibility” of the private and public sectors and the media, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
He said that the government is focusing on enhancing tax collection, to prevent any income and sales tax hikes, reiterating the government's “commitment” not to increase taxes.
The PM instructed the creation clear a complain mechanism to settle issues before referring them to the judiciary, according to Petra.
