AMMAN — French Ambassador to Jordan David Bertolotti on Sunday voiced his country’s commitment to supporting Jordan during the troubled times the Middle East is going through, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

During a ceremony hosted by the French embassy on the occasion of France’s National Day, the ambassador pointed out the increasing numbers of French tourists, businesspeople and experts visiting the Kingdom.

In front of a crowd of officials, MPs, ambassadors, journalists and guests, he stressed that the Jordanian-French partnership is based on several human bonds.

“The partnership linking our two countries demonstrates our confidence in Jordan and its people,” Bertolotti said, commending the Kingdom’s achievement in terms of political and socioeconomic reforms.

The ambassador also spoke of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict which he described as “a major source of instability”, stressing that Paris and Amman are working together to realise peace.

He highlighted the “grave risks” of the unilateral withdrawal of the USA from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, commonly known as the Iran nuclear deal.
