Foreign Ministry urges Jordanians in Ukraine's Sumy to register their data

AMMAN — The Foreign Ministry on Wednesday renewed calls for Jordanians in Ukraine’s Sumy, who haven’t yet contacted the embassy in Ankara or the ministry’s crisis cell, to register their data to help the cell coordinate a safe passage. 

The ministry also announced that the first group of Jordanians, 17 individuals coming from Sumy, crossed the Siret border crossing on the Romanian-Ukrainian border on Wednesday in the early morning. 

The ministry, in a statement, reported by the Jordan News Agency, Petra, said that the crisis cell is following up on the conditions of the other groups of Jordanians and their families who left Sumy on Tuesday moving towards Poltava, to be provided with the necessary assistance.

The ministry's diplomatic contacts with the Ukrainian authorities, notably local authorities in Sumy, as well as the Jordanian Embassy in Ankara, have ensured safe corridors for some 120 Jordanians and their families, which allowed them moving from Sumy towards Poltava.

A total of 35 Jordanians coming from Slovakia, Hungary and Romania, are expected to arrive in the Kingdom on Wednesday. 

Since the beginning of the military operations in Ukraine, more than 1,164 Jordanians and their families have passed from Ukraine to Romania, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary and Moldova. 

So far, a total of 307 Jordanians have arrived to the Kingdom.
